Glad to be back in California in the high 60s. Ohio apparently hates me. The weather was crappy and Southwest, with whom I've never had a luggage problem once, decided to run over one of my pieces with the airplane and then tape it back together like no one would notice. It was great to see everyone. Pictures are up here. Happy to be in my own bed and my own shower. I would have thought that bathing in a place where I'm not constantly bumping my elbows on the tiny enclosed walls would be great. But, unfortunately, the water in OH only gets lukewarm. I need scaldinghot.

I hope everyone has a happy and save New Year's Eve.

It's raining.

Ice.

I don't care what anyone says about music soundtracks. The Hans Zimmer stuff on True Romance is really great.

Hey OH people! I will be at the Trolley Stop Friday, December 26 beginning at 9pm. Come on by and have a drink.

In related news: Talked with my dad today. He told me he'd bring a winter coat when they pick me up from the airport Monday evening. I assured him I had a scarf and a jacket and gloves and I should be fine.

"Sweetie, it's going to be five degrees."

I hate winter in Ohio.

Two funny things that happened at the party:

Random Guy spilled a beer down my leg. He was rubbing my leg kinda trying to be sexy and all I could think about was the fact my hot peep-toed shoes now smelled like beer. I was engaging in conversation when he called it out. "I'm rubbing your leg here, and all you're thinking about is the fact that your shoe has beer on it. Am I right?" Yes! It totally cracked me up that he knew exactly how girls think.

Character Workshop Crush was there. Hadn't seen him in a while. Here's a snippet of a conversation:
"Why haven't we had sex yet?"
"Because I'm not that kind of girl. Now let's get back to making out in the janitor's closet."

Oh yeah, I'm full of all kinds of class.

Alright. Crap. You win.

Last year I remember having a specific conversation with my darling Tilt about how I was not going to do Facebook. I was done with internet social crap. Done, I say. But Tilt said it was the best way to let people know about your shows. My answer to that was others on my troupes would take care of it.

But after a bazillion friend requests and the fact that the Latckey Kids have our schedule posted and that's sort of info I need, I gave in and signed up.

Consider my words eaten.

In other news, I uploaded the iO Christmas Party pics to my flickr account. Go check 'em out!

And the last of the Happys.

First off, it was a good little exercise to consciously think about one happy thing a day. Yesterday was my last day, and I went out with a bang. It was the holiday party at iO, and I had ridiculous amounts of fun. Pictures to come soon!

Monday Happy

Instead of Semi-Awesomatics rehearsal, Ben, Ari, Eliana and I went to K24 for food. It was a delicious evening of laughing and bonding. I love my friends.

Sunday Happy *Day 5*

Today I saw a really great one person play about Jimmy Stuart. It seriously was stellar and I wished my dad was there. He's a fan. At intermission they sold raffle tickets for a gift basket that included an original play bill for Harvey, an Old West magazine with Jimmy on the cover, and a few other items. My date bought me some raffle tickets, even though I assured him I have horrible luck and he should just consider it a donation to the theater. Well. I was wrong. They called my number. That made my Christmas, because that gift basket is going directly to my dad. I can't express how incredibly happy that made me. I'm still in shock!

Happy Saturday

Today was one of the most awesome days in a very long while. I had three shows tonight and effing rocked their socks off. Granted, I didn't hit everything, but I hit enough to make it worth while. The Latchkey Kids show was one of the best we've ever done. I've been in a sucky improv place for a while because I've been in a sucky head-space for a while. But tonight I said screw it all and went balls out. Clif yelled at me for being a crappy improviser the past few week but then said I redeemed myself tonight. Rock.

Also, my voice is totally shot from singing, doing three shows, and yelling over the bar music.

Double Also: I confessed my love-slash-intimidation to Brandon tonight. He's in Local 132, one of the best teams at iO. We are lucky enough to have him on Maestro, If You Please. Tonight he did a Local show while we did our Maestro show. I talked to him for a bit afterwards and confessed my intimidation. He's seriously amazing and I feel very lucky to be on a team with him. Anyway, I'm a total improv dork and it all came out tonight.

Plus, Jenn of the Cool Kids came out to see 2 of my shows. We had a super fun time hanging out and goofing off tonight. I am so glad we're friends.

Double Plus: I saw a girl I went to college with tonight!!! I was telling Jenn my Jason Lockhart story when I noticed a girl across the bar who looked familiar. I went up to her and said, "Hey, your name isn't Erica, is it?"

It was!!! I will butcher her last name (which has apparently changed, according to the ring on her finger), so I'm not going to attempt it. But it was beyond awesome to see her again. Erica was one of those girls who I thought was way too cool to be friends with me. I have a Halloween picture of her as Trinity and she was kick ass. That girl rocks my world. I can't wait to see her and take her to fun places to eat.

What I'm trying to say here is: Today rocked my socks off.

Saturday Happy Thing

I did a crapton of claims today, which was wonderful. I got up and was working by 6am, then saw a movie w/ Ben. (Four Christmases. It was cute.) Came home, ate lunch, worked my bum off, and finished 30 minutes sooner than planned with 13 extra claims done. Now I'm off to shower and perform in 3 shows tonight-one with each of my troupes.

Today was a really good day!

Friday Happy

I have just discovered Arrested Development. It is a delight!

Thursday's happy thing

I wrote for the first time since my senior year in college. Not sure if it's gonna be any good, but it was fun to do. Then Drew came in after a few screwdrivers and we talked til Faith came home after 1. My original plan was to be in bed by 11 b/c I'd been up since 5:30 and was beat down. But I had a lot of fun hanging out w/ my roomies til 3.

Today's Happy

I didn't go anywhere or do anything but work, but my hair looked super cute and I didn't even spend any time on it. I also got a ton of work done, which was much needed. And now I'm off to bed!

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this everyday for a week without fail.
3. Tag your friends to do the same.

Tuesday (because I just read Michelle's blog)

Went out to dinner w/ Stef. Talked about Twilight/Harry Potter (she made me read T, I'm making her read HP). Got my books back, gave her hers plus book 3. Went to Barnes & Noble to purchase the hardback copies of 4 & 5. Now I have all Harry Potters in hard back! Also purchased The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Tags: Bens Dunn and Seimon. Nanna. Candy. Rachel (yes you, in Ohio!).

Wanna know the best place to spring a slow leak in your sink plumbing? Directly over a box of tampons. They're so absorbent you won't notice the leak for weeks!

I officially gave up on Heroes. In the middle of the show. I just can't take it anymore. Call me when you get better writing, and we'll renegotiate our relationship.

I want to be where I am happy. That is not here.

Thank you, friends, for making this bearable.

Thursday, December 04, 2008

It's been a while since I read a book on purpose. Stefanie gave me the Twilight set, and I'm trading her the Harry Potter set. Last night I finished Eclipse and started Breaking Dawn--until 2 in the morning.

Ugh. I gotta get a handle on this.

Because Michelle did one and I am a little lamb.
