I don't go on a lot of actual vacations. I do a lot of traveling, but I don't know that I would consider it a vacation. The last time we went on a family vacation was the cruise in 2001. The time before that was a trip to Chicago when I was in the 8th grade. I've only been on a vacation with another family once in my life.

Kristen Keebaugh. Spring break, 1992. We drove with her parents, sister Ashley, and Ashley's friend Michelle, to Florida for the week. It was an awesome time! I'm conveniently forgetting the sun burn so bad I blistered. But that only lasted for a day. I still have a picture of a sandman (think: snowman made of sand) that Ashley and Michelle made. I still have a photo of Kristen's dad on the beach. I still have the pic of me in my rainbow-colored zebra print swimsuit standing next to Kristen in her green (her favorite color) two piece. On the way home in the middle of the night (or maybe really early in the morning), I remember Kristen saying, "Hey, where's mom?" To which her dad replied, "Asleep in the way back." Then came Ashley's voice from the way back: "Uh, no she's not." We'd left her at a truck stop when she took the dog out. So, we turned around and headed back. That was a really fun time.

Well, I don't know what this week is going to bring. 8 adults and 5 kids under one roof. And I only know 36% of the people involved, counting myself. But I'm hoping that there will be plenty of relaxing time on the beach. I'm also looking forward to playing with kids again. The other day I was missing the kids I used to watch in the nursery. I don't know how old his nieces and nephews are, but I think they're pretty young. Hooray for that! I also have four books to read. Anyway, I've been working so much lately* that I'm really looking forward to this break. Yea for Florida!

*To be fair, I've been working so much because I've been traveling so much. I'm trying to squish work days in between the different states.

Today.

Noon.

I will be picking up my reserved copy.

I was ill-prepared for how much the gym was going to knock me out today. I'm much better, but still have a cold. Mike didn't want to take me surfing if I was sick--obviously that would be a bad idea. So I figured I'd use today's training session as an indicator.

Well.

I will not be surfing tomorrow.

My 10 min warm up on the elliptical is usually done on level 5 @ 61 RPM. Minute 8 I bump up to 71 RPM. Today I was around 41 and at minute 8 I went down to level 1. So, that gives you an idea as to how wiped out I am.

I won't be able to surf now until August. I keep apologizing to my board every time I pass by. It's not happy with me.

Anyway, I'm off to get my first ever passport. Hooray!!!

A sign you are getting old

I am returning to the land of the living. After my week in OH, I got very sick. Why? Oh, that would be because I didn't get enough sleep. Wed I got in around 4 am. Thurs after the bachelorette party I got in around 4 am. Friday after the rehearsal dinner I got to bed around 1:30. Saturday after the wedding, reception, bar afterwards, socializing with old friends, then staying up to gossip with Courtney like a 12-year-old, I got to bed around 3 am. Sunday after the brunch, Young's trip, minor shopping trip (where I was so depressed in the dressing room I wanted to chop off my boobs and cry, but then was able to find a shirt that didn't button up), dinner with parents, home, bed (but no actual sleep), then lots of phone calls trying to get Courtney back to my folks', I finally laid down around 3.

When I don't get enough sleep, I get sick. This is a fact. Yesterday I felt like doing a swan dive out of my bedroom window onto the cement two stories down. I'm much better today. Changing the sheets, as I've broken several fevers over the past 48 hours. I might try to get some work done. But I might just save that for tomorrow. Anyway, it's great to be able to stand up and not pass out.

Oh, another sign you are getting old? When your boyfriend's resumé--listing his accomplishments, interests, and GPA--reads like porn.

Back from Ohio. Tosh is all married now. I've been to a billion weddings this year, but hers really hit me hard. In a good way. I mean, I've never been more happy for two people than I am for her and Craig. Maybe it's because Steph and Mem's weddings were 4+ years ago, but I don't remember being this in love with the couple before. And I was in both of those weddings.

When they danced, when they looked at each other, when they said their vows...I could have vomited a puppy pooping a rainbow made of bunnies. I was that happy for them. She's a wedding coordinator, so, of course, everything went without a hitch, and everything was uber beautiful.

I got to have Jim's Donuts and a butterscotch shake from Young's Dairy and a pepperoni sub from Subbies and a delicious Marion's Piazza. Next time I go back I'm hitting Bravo and India Palace. Skybus is AWESOME! The seats were very comfortable. And I can get a round trip, non-stop ticket back home for $41--which includes taxes and fees!!! But I have to get the tickets waaaaay in advanced. I don't want to get anything for January, because we might go to St. Martin. The end of February/beginning of March may not be the best of times. Then they'll be in PHX for Cubs spring training. So, who knows when I'll get to take advantage of a flight across the country that is cheaper than a tank of gas.

Anyway, pictures and (hopefully) video to come.

Up so early today. I'm not calling what I did last night a "sleep". It was more of a "nap". Gotta get my claims processed by 10:30. Yesterday the system was down, so I could only work 4.5 hours. I really needed that other 3.5.

On the up side, I will get to see Nertoosha! Since I RSVPd the bachelorette party before I even got the invite, I secured myself a spot in the limo. What fun! Plus, I will be seeing just about EVERYONE from college, which I'm also looking forward to.

OK, gotta get to work.

Today's song stuck in my head when I woke up: "These Are the People in Your Neighborhood"

It was an accident.

I went in Friday to get my hair colored and shaped. I was going to grow it out. I knew I would have a lot of salt water and chlorine damage to my hair this summer, so I told the girl to go back to my natural color. Which was quite a bit lighter than I've had it recently. She went into this whole thing about having to strip my hair. I'm pretty low maintenance. I would have canceled the coloring appt and just gone w/ the hair cut had I known it was going to be such an ordeal. I don't mind if I have roots. Anyway, she tried a few things, which didn't work. So I jokingly said to David--who was cutting my hair once the coloring was done--"Just cut it off." He said he'd do it. I said okay.

So, my hair got chopped off. I liked it when it was short the first time around. The cut/shape was really cute. I am not a fan of how it looks now. It's too short. However, it grows and I don't have to look at myself. Plus, it will be easy to take care of this summer and won't get in my face when I surf.
